History has taught us that men have known about propaganda almost since the beginning. It was used in various revolutions to convince the populace of the ills of the establishment. Propaganda came into its’ own in World War II. That is when the World at large learned of the effectiveness of propaganda.
Further, there were two significant differences between the propaganda of the revolution and the propaganda of, say, the Nazi regime. The former contained more truth and the people it was directed at were the proletariat or the peasant. Nazi propaganda on the other hand contained little truth and it was aimed at the middle class and intelligentsia. It was very effective at keeping the German people deceived and motivated into pursuing the war with vigor. It convinced the German people that the other guy was the instigator. It stirred their anger. It stirred bitterness. It convinced people that they were the have-nots and someone else (the Jews) did not deserve what they had. It was sophisticated finger pointing.
But where does propaganda come from? Where is the first recorded propaganda to be found? You guessed it – the Bible. Where did this first occurrence happen? You guessed it – in the Garden of Eden. Who was the first propagandist? You guessed it – Satan. Who was Satan pointing his finger at? You guessed it – God.
The greatest propagandist of all time and throughout time is Satan himself. He is the father of lies. As the great propagandist he knows how to pick the perfect lie. What is a perfect lie? It is any lie that you will eagerly believe. It makes you look good and the other guy look bad. He knows how to sugar coat any lie. And he knows how to present the lie to the intelligentsia. That is he knows how to appeal to your intellect as well as your flesh and pride. He well knows how to point the finger. If he cannot convince you that the problem is someone else then he will point the finger at you. In fact he will always point the finger at you. I mean you could have done something to avoid this situation right? This latter form of propaganda was used by the Chinese in the Korean War and by the North Vietnamese in the Vietnam War. It has always been the Great Enemy’s ace in the hole so to speak. If he can’t convince you of the need to resent someone else then he will convince you to resent yourself.
A great lesson modern man has learned is that if you tell a lie often enough and long enough then people will begin to believe it even if it is obviously a lie. This is our Enemy’s goal, to convince you in time that you are the problem. That if it weren’t for you God would do better. If it weren’t for you your family would do better. If it weren’t for you the Church would do better. If you just dropped out, the system would begin to function like a well-oiled machine. Again this is a tremendous lie. You are a vital cog in God’s great advancing machine. If you weren’t he would not have chosen you. If you drop out it would be as if that machine would now be missing a tooth on a gear and it would skip every time it rolled passed the missing tooth. If you never do anything in God’s great Kingdom but just hang in there then the machine will not skip your beat. It is a grave mistake, to give up and it is a real victory for the Enemy to do so.
Yes you can and should do much more then just hang in there but you are not a loser and God will never kick you out of His Great Army because of your mistakes. A truly great general knows how to use the least in his army to good effect; no matter how poorly trained or equipped or committed they may be. How much more is our Supreme Commander is able to work all things together for the good of them that are the called?
